Nicol Svárovská is a PhD candidate at Charles University in Prague. Her research concerns the thinking of the Swiss philosopher Max Picard and focuses on the analysis of language, silence, and what she calls “the acoustics of war” in Nazi Germany.

Nicol holds a Master in International Law in Armed Conflict from the Geneva Academy. Her Master Thesis, Externalisation of Refugee Protection: The Controversial Notion of  “Safe Third Country” in the EU Context. The Deal with Libya under International Law, was supervised by Vincent Chetail.

Nicol also holds a Master of Comparative Literature and a Master of General Anthropology, both acquired at Charles University in Prague and through research stays at the University of Melbourne, McGill University, Maastricht University, and the University of Fribourg.

Most recently, Nicol was a press officer covering the Third Committee at the United Nations Department of Global Communications in New York.

Nicol currently focuses on the issue of space debris in the context of sustainable development of outer space, looking for analogies in climate change law, namely the principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities (CBDR), at the Institute of International Relations in Prague.
