The Global Terrorism Index (GTI) is an annual report produced by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) and is now on its seventh edition. The report measures the global impact of terrorism and provides a comprehensive summary of key trends and patterns in terrorism. It analyses several vital aspects of terrorism, including the socio-economic conditions under which it occurs, the transformation of terrorism over time, geopolitical drivers, ideological aims of terrorist groups, and strategies used by terrorists.
The findings of the reports are widely used by organizations such as the OECD, NATO, the UN, the World Bank, and various EU organizations and member states. The aim of the discussion was to introduce The Global Terrorism Index (GTI) report and summarize its findings.

  • How vulnerable are individual European countries to terrorist attacks?
  • What kind of policy implications can be drawn from the GTI?

Speakers:
Lea Perekrests, Deputy Director of Operations, Europe & the MENA Region, The Institute for Economics & Peace
