The IIR in cooperation with the Czech Council on Foreign Relations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the pleasure to invite you to the 13th Student Conference on the Balkans that will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Czernin Palace, Loretánské náměstí 5, Prague 1) on October 8, 2020 at 9:00 AM. It convenes on the sidelines of the 12th International Symposium “Czech Foreign Policy”.

Nebezpečný vývoj bezpečnostní situace ve světě mj. dokumentuje, po odstoupení USA a Ruské federace od kontrolně-zbrojní Smlouvy o likvidaci řízených střel středního a kratšího doletu (INF) v roce 2019, také letošní jednostranné odstoupení USA od multilaterální Smlouvy o otevřeném nebi (OST) a zvažování možnosti obnovit podzemní jaderné zkoušky americkými bezpečnostními představiteli. Dne 5. 2. 2021 skončí desetiletá platnost poslední americko-ruské kontrolně-zbrojní smlouvy New START, která omezuje strategické útočné jaderné zbraně obou zemí. Smluvní znění nicméně umožňuje prodloužení platnosti New START o dalších pět let.

The special issue of the prestigious journal Energy Policy called Energy Security and Policies of the Visegrad Countries: Between the West and Russia focuses on the energy security and policies of the V4 states between the West and Russia. The aim was to present a comprehensive picture of the regional energy policies, taking into account the broader economic and political context of energy imports, transportation, distribution, and consumption.

Think Visegrad Fellowship – Call for Proposals 2020
Open call for expert fellows has been announced by Think Visegrad Platform. Expert fellows from non-Visegrad countries with at least five years’ experience in their field of research are eligible. Preference will be given to applicants who have already made a significant contribution in their field. Application dossiers consisting of the application form, structured CV (including the list of publications) and a motivation letter (maximum 300 words) are to be submitted to thinktank@sfpa.sk by August 15, 2020.

Its aim is to offer insight without the benefit of hindsight.
