Can the possible non-extension of the New START Treaty influence the strategic stability in the use of the outer space domain?
The New START Treaty, which limits the number of deployed strategic nuclear weapons, will expire in February 2021. According to the assessment of most arms control experts and, for example, the former US and Russian Foreign Ministers, the non-extension of the New Start Treaty will have a number of negative effects. What are the possibilities of the subsequent development if the last US-Russian control-arms contract New START is not extended? And what would that mean for strategic use of the universe?

V únoru 2021 vyprší platnost smlouvy New START, která omezuje počty rozmístěných strategických jaderných zbraní. Podle hodnocení většiny kontrolně-zbrojních expertů a např. bývalých ministrů zahraničních věcích USA a Ruska, bude mít neprodloužení smlouvy New Start řadu negativních dopadů. Jaké jsou možnosti vývoje, pokud nedojde k prodloužení poslední americko-ruské kontrolně-zbrojní smlouvy New START? A co by to znamenalo pro strategické využití vesmíru?

Common fears, common opportunities? Czechia and Norway in the changing international context
Researchers from the Institute of International Relations Benjamin Tallis, Mark Galeotti, Elena Zhirukhina, and Jan Mazač together with researchers from Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) recently published a policy brief called "Common Fears, Common Opportunities? Czechia and Norway in the changing international context". The authors of the policy brief participated in the COMFEAR project number EHP-BFNU-OVNKM-2-039-2019, financed by EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021, Bilateral Fund, whose aim was to identify common fears among Czech and Norwegian public and policymakers and their role in forming public opinion and foreign policy. Moreover, the project aimed to deepen cooperation between IIR and NUPI.
